Bill Maxwell’s special Interests

ROLE MODELS FOUNDATION – Bill established the foundation to promote access to scholarship for young people who want to pursue journalism.  The website is maintained by young people and it is hosted by the University of Florida.

UNITARIAN UNVERSALISTS LIBRARY – The Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater library accepted a significant donation of Bill Maxwell’s personal collection.  The library is named in honor of Bill’s daughter, Anastasia.  It serves the local community as a lending library.

COALITION OF IMMOKALEE WORKERS – Bill was reared in a migrant farm-worker family.  He primarily grew up traveling north and south along the U.S. East Coast until he was sixteen.  He has been an advocate for this invisible population his entire life.

HECHINGER INSTITUTE – Bill was a 2009-2010 Fellow with the Hechinger Institute on Higher Education and the Media, at Teacher’s College at Columbia University, new York.  The  2009-2010 fellowship program, “Covering America, Covering Community Colleges,” was in-depth coverage of issues related to community colleges.

THE PINEY WOODS SCHOOL – Bill strongly supports the mission and goals of this private Mississippi high school.

WORLD PARTNERSHIPS, INC  is a private, 501-c-3 not-for-profit organization (FEIN: 59-3651710) with a worldwide mission for educational, cultural, commercial and professional exchange with current and emerging global leaders. World Partnerships is the official US Department of State partner for hosting global leaders under the Department’s “International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)” in Florida’s seven-county Tampa Bay area.  IVLP visitors are a unique high-level network of “New Generation” global leaders: They are invited by the American Embassy in their country to visit the United States to learn who America is, and to see how Americans live, work, learn, and play. This network represents government, business, academia, the media, the arts, and NGOs. They come from developed nations, emerging democracies and transitional states. For the IVLP, World Partnerships creates professional programs, cultural activities and social networking for “New Generation” leaders in the Tampa Bay area. Since its founding over 12 years ago, World Partnerships has brought over 4,000 “New Generation” leaders from more than 160 countries to the Tampa Bay region. Contributions to World Partnerships are deductible as charitable donations for Federal income tax purposes.
